Conclusion

Graphically speaking, DDS2 is an interestingly eye-catching game.  Its hard to really describe the visual style of the game.  The cut-scenes have a cinematic feel, with comic book sort of framing to many of the shots.  In-game graphics have a cell-shaded feel to them, which actually works quite well for the game.  The skill effects that appear during battle are just fine, but usually aren't anything ground breaking.  At times the characters and enemies are a little too polygonal, but it certainly isn't the worst we've seen.

The music and sound of Digital Devil Saga 2 is eclectic, but it suits the style and mood of the game fairly well.  If you are a bit more of a traditionalist, you probably won't be cranking up the volume, but there is a nice mix of different styles to enjoy if music is your thing.  In-game sound effects are not worth mentioning either way.

DDS2 ScreenshotOverall, DDS2 is a nice, solid RPG that should be fairly well received by fans of the genre.  Gamers who want fast action, minimal storyline, eye-popping graphics, and finger-cramping gameplay should stay away.  Gamers who are looking to add a decent RPG to their collection should certainly pick up DDS2 as a rental before leaping into a purchase.  At times Digial Devil Saga is a little too geared for die-hard RPG fans.  However, the gamers who can't get enough of RPGs, especially those who enjoyed the first DDS, should find this title to be a nice 30-40 hour game to spend a little time on.
