Xbox 360 Pricing
The LA Times is reporting the pricing information for Microsoft's
upcoming Xbox 360 console system. Apparently, gamers can expect to
find two versions of the console on the shelves, one retailing for $299
and the other going for $399. The $299 version of the Xbox 360 will
not include a hard drive - a feature which came standard on all
original Xbox consoles. Additionally, gamers who opt for the cheaper
system will find a wired controller packaged with the system rather
than the much anticipated wireless game pads that will ship with the
more expensive 360.
For the extra $100, the Xbox 360 will come with a 20Gb hard drive, a
wireless controller and headset, ethernet cable, and remote control.
The still relatively small size of the hard drive is somewhat curious,
since the X360 will be used by many gamers to serve various media
types. Although a console system close to $400 may seem steep to
consumers now, when compared to PC systems that have video cards that
cost more than that alone, the Xbox 360 may not be such a bad buy after
all.
