Post subject: Is the 399 X360 worth it?
So we all know that there is the $299 and $399 versions of the Xbox 360. Is the $399 worth the extra hundred bucks? I'd love to have the wireless controllers and a hard drive, but I can deal with wires for a few more years. The lack of hard drive kinda sucks, but $100? I dunno.
Kinda depends on the games I think. If more of the games that are developed have distinct advantages running with the hard drive, then it'd be worth it. If the game-play for most games isn't really much if at all different playing with/without a drive, then why spend the $100? To put music on it? I already got a stereo in my main room...
This sortof puts developers in a conundrum. They can't automatically assume there's going to be a drive, but it might be there...
I'm not so sure that it would really affect developers too much. The hard drive would probably be used for media storage and save games, both of which don't really affect developers. There is the possibility that the drive would be used for memory paging, but I would think that would be handled in the system rather than software.
I'm starting to lean more and more towards the PS3 though.
